Reading Slumps
As we know, buying books is never my issue (the shelves/piles continue to grow), but what do I do when I’m in a reading slump? I’m currently in one of the worst ones I’ve had in recent memory, with zero inclination or motivation to read. I’ve always been an overthinker, so in place of trying to solve the problem, I’m just patiently waiting for the need to read to return to me. It’s a little hard when my stacks of unread books are staring across at me, but here are some things I’ve been doing in place of reading:
Hanging all my photos and prints in my new flat
Celebrating my birthday by eating Indian food, Colin the Caterpillar and laughing until I cry
Getting started on The Real Housewives of OC and The Real Housewives of Atlanta
Throwing out beauty and skincare that I should have gotten rid of when I moved
Returning to journaling
Planning some travel
Playing with my new cat
Trying to remember to be grateful
The last one sounds a bit obvious, but sometimes it’s difficult, especially when there are stressors in your life that you can’t do a lot about. All of this to say, my August 2023 post is likely to be a very short one. Either way, here’s a cat photo to make everything better.
