To Be Read Shelves

Yes, I continue to buy books despite the mounting pile

I’m still in a reading slump, which is completely fine, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to share how I keep and organise my books, and the wild number of books that I own that remain unread.

I have four bookshelves in my flat and they’re divided as follows:

  1. Read

  2. Unread

These shelves are then organised into hardbacks, paperbacks and small books. I have two bookshelves of read books and two of unread. The unread ones are below:

I try to alternate between fiction and non-fiction, hardback and paperback. I also use my bookshelves to store random cat bits (I have a cat now!!), empty flower pots, skincare and plants.

If you spot anything on the shelves you think I should prioritise, let me know. The other bit of book news is that I’m going to be in conversation with Colin Walsh to discuss his debut novel Kala at the West Kirby Bookshop next Wednesday 12 July. Kala is an incredible book that details the disappearance of a young woman in a small town in Ireland, and the friends who happen to reunite years later when a body is discovered. If you’re in the Merseyside area, pick up tickets here.
